Kelsey Cantor - September Student of the Month

Kelsey Cantor, daughter of Kirk and Patsy Cantor, has been selected as our September Student of the Month for the Class of 2010. The Social Studies Department nominated her for this recognition.

Kelsey is very musically inclined as well as being involved in community service projects. She enjoys playing the bass guitar and is involved in the Uptown Music Collective. She played in last year’s fall show, the Collective’s Pink Floyd Show, at the Community Arts Center, the 2009 Billtown Blues Festival and various other gigs. Currently at the Collective, she is involved in workshops, participating and helping organize the upcoming fall show, and helping with a short, online show about the Collective and the music community.

In the community, she volunteers at the Sojourner Café (soup kitchen) and plays music at various church events. She has been privileged to do service in Mexico, Kentucky, and New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.  Although Kelsey is quite active in the community, she has also managed to maintain honor roll status each and every marking period. Her favorite subjects are biology, music, speech and drama, and history.  When not involved in musical or community activities, she enjoys being outside and reading.

Upon graduation from high school, Kelsey would like to work for a year with a missionary or community service group and then go on to learn more about the bible and experience the world and other cultures.
