Red Ribbon Week
November 2, 2009
Last week, the school district took several opportunities to make children and adults aware of the dangerous effects of illegal substances. Red Ribbon Week's theme was "join the fight against drugs," and the middle school and elementary schools took time to share with their students many educational facts about red ribbon week. The week concluded with 65 high school SADD members visiting Schick Elementary to share with children their reasons for resisting drugs and alcohol. High school folks suggested several extra-curricular opportunities in which kids can get involved and make good use of time instead inappropriate choices. Elementary students even received dog tags from the U.S. Army with their individual name on it as well as camouflaged wrist bands, "join the fight against drugs."
