NHS Students - Good Samaritans for a Good Cause
November 30, 2009
Each year, students representing the National Honor Society complete a variety of community-based activities as part of their service to the organization. Recently, students packed 50 shoe boxes for Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child project. These shoe boxes are distributed to approximately 93 countries throughout the world including the United States. Each box contained a shirt, soap and washcloth, toothbrush and toothpaste, comb, crayons, pencils, pens, tablets, pencil sharpeners and erasers, a toy or stuffed animal and candy. The students and Ms. Johnson donated most of the items for the shoe boxes. The kids met at 7 a.m. on November 18th to pack the boxes. Several NHS members also helped at the local collection site on November 22nd. Almost 2500 shoe boxes were collected from Williamsport and the surrounding area. The NHS kids helped process about 500 of those shoe boxes. A big, special thanks to Ms. Johnson and our very dutiful NHS students for helping once again with such a worthwhile endeavor!
